Rogier’s first 40, within an hour of setting up
Dutch angler Rogier Smit got his autumn campaign off to a great start recently, employing the pre-baiting approach obviously worked, good angling Rogier!
‘I started early with pre baiting my syndicate this Autumn and as such I managed to get on the fish very quickly. I noticed that the carp where hungry and located them pretty quickly from watching their jumping and bubbling.
As I started fishing in the late afternoon it was only within one hour that the first rod went off and a nice 40lb mirror carp kicked the session off. I wanted to get the rod back out as quickly as possible so checked the hook and it was sharp enough to give it a go for a second fish. It proved to work and withing half an hour a second fish weighing 30lb was in the net.

As the sun rose the following morning the same rod ripped off again and another 40lb mirror was in the net. What a lovely start of the Autumn and I can’t wait till the foggy mornings are coming in’.
