Belgian angler Brecht Ramon has been catching some nice fish from the River Ijzer in his home country recently. The setting is very distinctive in that where he was fishing is right next to some preserved trenches from the first world war.

‘I fished in the weekend a Belgium river The Ijzer. We fished next the Trenches of Death.

It was a very important place in the war of 1914- 1918.

We saw so many English visitors when we fished the canal. There was a nice connection between Belgium and England.

We caught several carp normally you catch more commons than mirrors. We had some luck and caught some lovely mirrors’.

Brecht used Cryogen Grippers and Tungsten Loaded hook links.
