Cornish carper Marcus Watts had an eventful trip to Paradise Lakes, Limogue, France recently. Although he was fishing for the lake’s big carp, this monster cat fish picked up his hook bait and proceeded to tow him all over the 9 acre lake!
After two hours it was eventually tamed and weighed a massive 88kg and was 220cm long with a 135cm girth. This fish was stocked into the lake 11 years ago at just 25lb!
It was Marcus’ first trip using the superb new ESP Syncro XT mono in 18lb (also as the hook link – you need strong gear on these French waters) and the cat picked up a rig incorporating a size 4 hook and a rum and raisin boilie.
