Daren Norman has had a storming few weeks and with the carp on a post spawn munch it didn’t take him long on his latest trip, good angling Tinpot! ‘I’m glad to say that things have carried on very nicely over the last couple of weeks. The fish have spawned and seem to be up for a bit more bait so I’ve been using 6 kg of Sticky Krill per 48 hour trip and they seem to be enjoying it.
Things couldn’t have started better and after a couple of hours looking I couldn’t find any signs fish anywhere, so went on a hunch and ten minutes after casting out unbelievably I was in and landed a 32lb 4oz mirror. I started baiting a couple of spots but not fishing them and on the second night I put a rod on a spot I’d steadily baited over the previous twenty four hours. It paid off very nicely when I had a take and landed an animal of a common weighing in at 40lb 4oz, sending me home a very happy boy!
The next week I was back in the same swim and employed the same tactic of fishing different spots throughout the session but steadily baiting all of the them. This resulted in a 27lb 4oz mirror on the first night followed on my last morning by a 30lb 6oz mirror. My usual combination of 15lb Syncro XT to a lead clip and tubing and a krill wafter on a size 5 ready made chod tied to 6” of Tungsten Loaded carries on doing the business.
