Two Scale – 42lb 7oz

Charlie Wright has been in touch with a couple of dream fish from Yateley Car Park, well done Charlie!‘Six and a half weeks ago I was well and truly blown away when I landed my first fish from the historic Yateley Car Park lake on the last night of the season after a thirty night blank. Words could not describe how I felt that morning especially with it being the biggest mirror in the lake a fish known as ‘Two Scale’ at a weight 42lb 7oz breaking my current pb mirror of 21lb !

After getting to know the lake last year I felt confident in what I had learnt and just hoped that this year I could get amongst the fish nice an early in the season to give me that all important confidence boost!

The Slate Grey – 44lb 8oz

15 nights in….. and

At bang on 0500 Monday morning my wildest dreams came true when the rod rattled off again with my second fish from the lake. Running to the rod I lifted into what at first felt like a tench but after getting her out of the first weedbed and nearly being flat rodded, I saw a flash of scales in the rising sunlight! Instantly I knew I was into a common. Within seconds of me seeing her she went absolutely crazy ! My Legs were like jelly at this point and After an epic clear water battle I eventually splipped the net under her.  I could not believe my eyes ! Sat there in the net was one of the fish I dearly wanted and had photographed twice before. But finally this time she was mine,    The Slate Grey common at a record weight and Yateley car parks biggest ever common at 44lb 8oz ! Smashing my current pb common of 22lb !

Two fish, two forties, the two biggest fish in the lake. Terminal tackle used for both fish : 18lb ESP Syncro loaded XT, ESP helicopter lead core leader and  hinged stiff rig comprising size 5 Cryogen Grip Rigger, 20lb bristle filament and a 15lb Ghost boom.

I’m still a little in shock and it hasn’t quiet fully hit home yet but I’m sure it will!’
