Spence Continues To Haul!

Spencer Wright followed up his last mind blowing session with a quick overnighter last week, which again produced an impressive tally of fish. Here Spence tells the story:

08-5-13-028

After the previous weekends productive nights angling, I was keen to return. Id baited my spots heavily and was hoping to give them one more hit before my next night, which was due to be in 2 days time, thanks to a bit of holiday I had owed but also to my better half for allowing me an extra nights angling when we were meant to be going away for a break! So, I prayed my spots remained untouched, by other anglers lines anyway, to encourage the fish to visit and feed with gay abandonment, on the feast that id laid down before them.

I arrived late in the evening and didn’t manage to get the rods in until darkness had fallen. The moon was new and prime so hoped that this would also benefit my brief session. With the rods placed on the spots with military precision the traps were set; it was then time to erect my brolly and await events.

Surprisingly, this wasn’t very long. A short take had me scrambling from my bag and the strike met with a momentous displacement of water as the hooked fish left the water in disgust. The reverse combi rig made of 15lb ESP camo sink link / 15lb ESP Stiff Bristle filament had done its job and was holding firm in the leviathans mouth! After an epical battle, the large scaled fish thankfully sailed into the waiting net, and proved the tactics were spot on when another 40+ fish had slipped up to the approach that id applied, and this being even more so, as it was a common, with the scales settling at 40-9! Get in there!

With the fish in the net, and awaiting a photographer, I was amazed that my other rod ripped off shortly afterwards and the ensuing take turned out to be one of the lakes smaller residents, a mirror at 25-2. Identical tactics again, with a CC Moore Boilie, size 7 ESP Stiff Rigger Mk2, Sink link / Bristle Filament, ESP Ejector lead-clip with a 3oz Leadshed Mucky Pear, 35lb Green Leadcore doing the business, as it had on the previous night at the weekend.

The rod which produced the 25 rattled off again at 5am producing another low 20 mirror, so all in all, a great nights angling of 3 fish and in particular, a unbelievable accruement of fish in 2 nights of 7 fish, which included 3 x 40+ fish to just under 48lbs. Happy days, im still in shock!

I cant wait to get back down there. I hope my run continue’s!
