Mark McKenna has sent us news of another very successful rota week on Savay Lake in the Colne Valley. He has continued to produce the goods, this time with the pick of the bunch being the ‘little tail leather’ at 42lb 12oz, followed by mirrors of 39lb, 33lb 8oz, and 30lb 12oz plus a 32lb 12oz common!
Another brilliant weeks angling, from a very consitent angler who just goes to proove that effort equals reward, well done mate!
Mark caught his fish from the near side of a series of gravel bars at long range, 120 yards+. To keep the fish in the area Mark got through a serious amount of bait during the course of the week, topping it up each day with a combination of the prototype Bait Craft boilie that he did so well on the previous rota, with matching pellet and liquid, plus hemp and sweetcorn.
The successful rigs comprised of a ‘swimmer’ pop up rig with an ESP Two-Tone hook link, Curve-Shanx hooks with the mainline being the excellent new ESP Syncro XT in 15lb.
As we move into the autumn, we’re sure there will be more to come from Mark and those Savay fish will continue to get bigger as they get right on the munch!
