First Roach Pit Fish is a Proper Old One for Mark

Mark Drake from Bristol sent us this picture of his first fish from the Roach Pit in Ringwood, a great old character to start his campaign!

I opted to drop in a swim called the Wind Tunnel after seeing one show and as it covered some various depths of water and also covered off the Island with some nice silty / sandy areas.

With the wind forecast to switch South / South West and gathering pace it just felt right. A couple of Withy’s comprising of size 5 Stiff Riggers and 25lb Sink Link and tipped off with the ever reliable Choco Orange pop ups from PFG were placed either side of the island spot and topped up with around 3kg of 12/18mm baits and chopped nut.

1st light brought plenty of activity and with time running out and work looming I thought my chance had gone, when suddenly the left hand rod burst in to life and the battle was on.

After an epic battle with the fish gunning for the Island and then staying deep in either margin, picking up lots of fresh weed and my 15lb Syncro doing its job, it was finally taking its first gulps of air and it wasn’t long before I was looking down at my 1st Roach carp safely in my net. It weighted 30lb on the nose, a very special moment indeed.

ESP Camo Sink Link is a super strong, soft un-coated braided hook link material which takes camouflage to the next level.  Check out this exclusive video by ESP Consultant Dave Ellyatt:
