Dave Springall has got off to a good start in pursuit of another big common, here Dave gives us the details:
“After having the result I wanted on one of my local club lakes a few weeks back I have since made a start on another local club lake, again containing a large common. The lake in question is relatively low stock and to date has only produced a handful of bites so far this season. After six blank nights and trying no end of different tactics I was finally rewarded with this cracking 29lb 12oz common taken just a coupe of feet from the bank under over hanging trees. The near twenty minute battle was a nervy one but on the second attempt she finally crossed the finishing post.
Size 6 ESP Curve Shanx hook KD style to six inches of 15lb ESP Two Tone silt, Ejector lead clip fished from an 18lb Soft Ghost leader and 18lb Syncro XT mainline. A Baitcraft Savay Salmon wafter was presented on a two bait stringer over a bed of Dynamite hemp, chopped Savay Salmon freebies and a few grains of maize.”
