Daren ‘Tinpot’ Norman has had mixed fortunes over the last couple of months, but you can’t keep a good man down and he quickly returned to form, well done Tinny!
‘I really struggled through August but kept baiting a couple of spots and at the start of September it finally paid off when I caught a lovely 28lb 12oz common and followed it up with a cracking mirror of 40lb 10oz the next morning.
Unfortunately two days later I broke my foot so that put an end to my plans and the next seven weeks were spent indoors. I finally managed to get back out at the end of October and Lady Luck must have been saying sorry for the foot as only an hour after casting out I was away and landed a beautiful golden common of 41lb 2oz, my 5th 40 of a very lucky year.
All the fish were caught on 15 lb Syncro XT, lead clips and tubing and the business end is 3″ of the Tungsten Loaded coated braid tied to a ready made ESP size 5 chod rig. This is fished with a critically balanced wafter so that the hook is laying flat on the bottom. I’ve used this set up most of the year and it’s definitely working!’
