Kent based Daren ‘Tinpot’ Norman enjoyed the session of a lifetime last week, landing two of his chosen venue’s most prized residents – with a combined weight of over 103lb! Typical Tinpot!
‘My season hadn’t really got going as a broken down van and a house move had meant all work and no play, so I turned up for my 3rd trip of the year to my syndicate gagging to try and get one under my belt.
After a look about I knew where I wanted to be and dropped into the same swim I’d finished in on my previous trip. The weather had really warmed up and I could see fish high in the water so chose to fish on some shallow gravel at range. The next day at 4pm I was away and after a real hard battle I landed a new pb common of 45lb 7oz.I was buzzing as it was a stunning dark chestnut coloured fish.
The following afternoon all hell broke loose as I hooked into a fish unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. On its first run it flat rodded me and stripped 80 yards off the clutch before finally stopping and then beating the hell out of me for 40 minutes. It felt like a sack of cement strapped to a jet engine and I was a shaking mess when it finally rolled in the net. I recognized it as a fish that has been caught at over 60lbs so had to get some bigger scales as mine go up to 56lb and this time she weighed a collosal 58lb 8oz, a p b mirror and left me speechless and with a grin on my face that will last a very long time.
I used Sticky krill boilies with a krill hookbait and introduced 3kg of bait little and often over the 3 night session. Tackle used included 15 lb ESP Syncro XT Loaded to ESP tubing, lead clip, Tungsten Loaded hooklink and size 5 ESP chod rig’.
