Jo Green made a recent return to Longfield Road lake and was rewarded with one of the lakes big mirrors, 3 Scales at a weight of 38lb 12oz. Here’s her full story:
Arriving at the lake in torrential rain probably wasn’t the best way to start the session but in it to win it, I just got on with getting set up. Casting the marker out to the middle of the pond (65ish yards) onto a clear hard area for the left hand rod which consisted of a bottom rig fished on the gravel. Then the right hand was placed at 30 yards to the right on a chod rig.
Mid-afternoon the next day the left hand bobbin hit the top and I was into a fish and straight away it got weeded up, applying steady pressure, eventually there was movement and the fish with a huge bank of weed slowly but surely came towards the net. Then the nightmare unfolded, there was no way of netting the fish without removing the weed first, straight into the water I started to peel away a tonne of weed wondering if my prize was still on the hook.
Ten minutes later I finally had sight of the fish, and with a quick shove it was in the net: 3 Scales at 38lb 12oz! The next morning I had Apples a beautiful heavily scaled in the net, weighing in at 21lb.
What a session. Well done Jo!
Jo’s tackle consisted of a Raptor T6 size 8 hook, Two tone 25lb hooklink in silt, and a leadcore lead clip leader for bottom bait rig and an ESP short chod rig size 7 on a leadcore chod rig leader.
