CC Moore’s lens man Alex Grice kindly sent us this review on the ESP Lo Pro brolly – he seems impressed and it certainly suits his short session, travel light style of angling. In all good tackle shops now – the perfect summer shelter.
Alex says: ‘The Lo-Pro has to be one of the most effective warm
weather shelters, offering optimum protection from those summer showers, while maintaining a fast and efficient set- up time. The brolly really does come into its own when fishing mobile, offering the angler the ability to rapidly deploy the shelter from the barrow and free stand without the need for any storm poles. This is a lifesaver when speed is of the essence, at times when setting up in poor weather conditions, or fishing from the barrow and keeping your gear sheltered from the elements. This certainly has to be one of the standout features of the brolly itself, with extended front ribs, which allow six of the ribs to be touching the floor, making it free standing.
Due to the fact the extended ribs touch the ground, it means the coverage of the brolly is much greater, with extended side panels. Whereas traditional brollies have to be set- up facing away from driving rain in order to gain shelter, the Lo-Pro can easily bet set up side-on, allowing for enhanced side protection which means you still have visibility of the lake.
The brolly itself is extremely lightweight (3.4kg minus pegs), which aids staying mobile and keeping the total weight of all your tackle down to a minimum. This makes light work when moving swims or travelling distance between your car and the chosen swim, especially on big expanses of water.
The increased headroom achieved from the space saving frame is a godsend when sitting on the bed chair, allowing you to sit upright and eliminating any bad back on those longer sessions. With the extended side panels, the bed chair can be positioned further forward, allowing you to place items of tackle towards the back out of harms way, or if the weather is really bad, the bedchair can be pushed to the back of the brolly.
The Lo-Pro is an awesome piece of kit for those quick summer overnighters, aiding speed and efficiency while maintaining optimum protection while out on the bank’.
