Dave Springall caught this cracker at the weekend. After weeks (months?) of horrible easterly winds some proper strong south westerly’s were always going to get them feeding and Dave got on the end of it and snared this beauty, good work Dave!
‘Finally the weather started to look up a little this past weekend and after a long week at work it was finally time to get the rods out for a couple of nights on my local syndicate lake. After a quiet first 24 hours with huge south westerly gusts which saw my brolly nearly removed from the ground on two occasions, a change of rig and baiting approach saw the bite finally come at 3am on the second and last night of my trip and resulted in this 30lb 4oz mirror.
Winning tactics comprised Baitcraft T1 and Savay Salmon products and a rig constructed from 18lb ESP Syncro XT mono, a size 5 ESP Raptor D7 hook with the hook bait tipped off with a piece of white ESP buoyant corn fished helicopter style off five feet of ESP original camo lead core.
