Sean Leverett caught four crackers from Stoneacres at Linch Hill fishery last week. After going through a bit of a lean spell where the cagey residents were cleaning out his baited spots and avoiding the hook bait, Sean changed his approach and his perseverance was rewarded. Here’s his account:
With the carp in Stoneacres spawning a few times over the last month or so the lake had been closed and the fishing restricted so with that now out of the way it was nice to finally get a decent session in.
I had decided that if the lake fished well then I would opt to do one of my weeks. A couple of days in I managed my first carp for some time and then soon after I lost one in the weed. With that the week was pulled as I felt that a few fish were to be had.
By fishing small amounts of free offering (between 50 & 75) and a pop-up over the top to a couple of areas I managed to land 4 carp to 33lb 2oz. I also lost a couple due to the weed.
Rigs were Multi rigs tied up using a new hooklink material that is currently on test along with a new Stiff Rigger hook. This was attached to the ejector lead safety clip with a 5oz lead and then a leadcore leader.
The problem I had is that not just the carp were feeding, the tench were feeding well too and over the course of the week I had 33 of them which not only kept me busy but often came at the wrong time as I feel I would have had more carp if they weren’t on me too.
All in all though it was nice to finally get amongst a few of the Stoneacres gems…
Sean.
