All round specialist Paul Elt made a recent trip to Linear’s Manor Farm with the intention of targeting the venue’s tench, but the amount of carp activity soon sawing him swapping his gear over, resulting in one of the lake’s most sought after mirrors. Here’s Paul’s story:
I had gone originally to target the tench. After 12 hours without a touch and a lot of carp showing in the swim over my baited spots (as well as losing one on light gear) I went back to the car and got the ESP Terry Hearn MK2’s out.
I topped up the spots with dynamite 15mm tiger nut red ammos and presented one on a combi-rig using 15lb Strip Tease finished with a short piece of mono on a large Ring Swivel and a Drennan size 6 Continental Boilie hook. This was cast 70 yards where the bottom dropped from 4 to 6 foot. Mainline was 12lb ESP Crystal Carp Mono connected to a ready tied ESP Leadcore Leader.
That night my change of tactics was rewarded with Spike at a spawned out weight of 38lb 1oz.
