Jo Green has been focusing on the Boat Pool at Horton and caught these two crackers recently, good angling Jo!
Due to the very long winter the carp were slow to wake up this year with a very slow start to the new season. Very few carp were coming out with just 2 on the bank since the start on 1st april.
I had done 2 blank weekend sessions and on the third I thought my luck had changed, alas it was,nt to be, two runs both resulting in disaster the first one the spool locked up on the reel and before I could do anything the line parted and the second one the hook pulled.
However last weekend my luck finally changed, although nothing was really showing in front of me, out of the blue on Saturday morning the right hand rod screamed off, resulting in a stunning mirror. He may not have been the biggest fish in the pond but he was a stunner and very welcome indeed. Sunday came and me not being one to pack up early and go home, Although nothing was showing I recast the rods at mid-day and sat back, thinking maybe just one more would be nice, please.
Then at just after one o’clock the right hand rod screamed off again, this time resulting in a cracking common a real old warrior, happy days indeed.
Both the carp were caught were caught using a combination of ESP crystal mono mainline 18lb mainline with leadcore leadclip leaders, raptor T6 barbed hooks size 8 and pva mesh bags.
