Jo Green spent her Christmas holiday at the vast 4000 hectare Lac bin el Ouidane in Morocco and had a fantastic time not only catching a load of carp, but some real chunks too. Here’s Jo’s account:
Mid December arrived and it was time to jet off for my annual jolly, spending Christmas and New Year on this great lake.
The weather is always beautiful at this time of the year and the fishing was excellent this time round. It wasn’t too long before the first forty plus was on the bank in the shape of a 46lb 10oz common and the fish kept coming, followed by a cracking 45lb 4oz common going in the net.
On the last evening I decided to take the left hand rod out to the end of the plateau by boat, a distance of about 280 yards and depth of around 5.4 metres, having seen a couple of good fish show. At 12.30am the ATT sounded off to a screaming run and after an epic battle in the boat, there she was, a pristine common of 52lb 8oz was in the net. Happy days indeed.
It certainly was a fantastic trip, bagging 39 carp comprising of 1x 52plus 4 x44lb, plus 3 x 41lb plus and 1x40lb plus 13x 30lb plus and I can’t wait to get back.
The tackle used ESP Crystal mono 18lb, ESP leadcore lead clip leaders (gravel) ESP raptor T6 size 3 and ESP Strip-Teaze two tone (silt) hook link.
