After a long lay off, Daren ‘Tinpot’ Norman had a great start to the New Year recently, catching crackers from a couple of different venues:
‘After not fishing for 7 weeks a really mild and windy weather front came in and I had to get out for a night’s fishing. Fishing over 2kg of sticky baits boilies on test ,hemp and corn it paid off and I had this lovely scaley 27 lb 8oz mirror to start the year off nicely.
A week later I had a social planned with a couple of mates on par lakes and fishing over the same mix of bait got very lucky catching one of the biggest fish in the lake along with a small common on my first night ever on the pond in freezing conditions . The hard fighting carp called “tutti” weighed 35lb 10oz and makes it the best start to a year I’ve probably had.
All the fish were caught using 15lb Syncro XT, ESP tubing and lead clips and simple short rigs using 25lb prototype tungsten hooklengths to size 5 stiff riggers .
