Gaz Fareham has been in touch with news of a monstrous old Belgian common which he caught on a return to the Benelux last week.
This fish is known to be ancient and highly sought after and was caught from one of the pits Gaz has been writing about in his excellent ‘This is Nowhere’ series in Carpology.
The bite came in the middle of a mild, damp night on the new moon and out of respect for the fish, Gaz chose to settle for flash shots and get it back rather than wait until daylight.
It weighed a whopping 46lb 10oz and the and Gaz reported that he caught it using a variety of ESP products including the Syncro mono plus a couple of new bits to be released next spring – these comprised a new leadcore which those that have used it are raving about and the new tungsten coated braid.
The excellent feedback we have been recieving on this new braid is getting a bit repetitive because all the highly experienced anglers that have been testing it (including Terry Hearn – more from Tel tomorrow) are echoing the same thing, along the lines of: ‘its the best coated braid i’ve ever used!’
Coming soon…
Gaz also let us know that the highly anticipated second issue of the Subsurface Journal will be launched at the Carp Society’s annual show at Sandown Park Racecourse on 29th / 30th November. From what we are hearing it sounds like its going to be a bit special…
