Dave Springall enjoyed a couple of trips to a new venue in Kent last week, catching a few stunners along the way. Here’s Dave account:
Last week I decided to to try my luck on a near 30 acre Kent pit that I had been meaning to have a go on since the spring. My usual lake seemed to be going through a real dull patch bites wise for everyone so it seemed like the ideal opportunity to give it a whirl.
With two 36 hour sessions ahead of me and knowing next to nothing about the lake I decided to fish ultra soft silty areas to showing fish at ranges of 120 yards with 18lb ESP Syncro XT mono D rigs and critically balanced Mainline Hybrid hookbaits tipped with ESP Bouyant Corn over large quantities of spodded chops, corn, hemp, liquids, ground bait and Response pellets.
The first two nights produced just one carp, a stunning scaley 20lb mirror.
After a day at home with the family I got the green light to make the 60 mile journey back to Kent and fishing similar tactics and ranges from a different swim slipped the net under three carp in two nights, all mirrors of 24lb, 25lb and a chunky dark old warrior of 33lb 12oz which required a trip out in the boat to free her from a huge weed bed.
Four carp in four nights on a new lake will do nicely and I’m looking forward to getting back this week hopefully for more of the same.
15lb ESP Syncro XT mainline, Anchor Rig tube, Ejector lead clips and streamliner rig sleeves completed the successful set up.
