Dave Springall caught this distinctive old character of a common yesterday from a tricky southern pit. Dave said of the capture:
‘The common went 32lb 8oz and is one of the old originals which is a great result after barely managing to get out recently. The bite came just two hours after casting into soft silt in 15 feet of water in a narrow channel between a big island and the near bank down to my left.
She picked up a single home made white Mainline Clockwork Orange 14mm pop up mounted on a naked chod fished straight through on 18lb ESP Syncro XT Loaded. Rig components were 25lb bristle filament, new prototype stiff rigger size 5, size 11 high performance swivel, tungsten putty and a 1.25oz square lead’.
