Kev Hewitt from Hinders has been getting amongst some nice fish utilising zigs to take advantage of carp feeding in the upper layers on the spring hatch.
Kev caught this 33Lb 8oz common within 30 minutes of casting out a 13ft zig on Bluebells Swan lake after turning up on darkness last Saturday night and dropping into one of the last few remaining free swims.
“I have been using 12Lb Drennan double strength for my zig fishing for years now and have caught literally hundreds of fish on zigs and it has never let me down. There is nothing else on the market that boasts the strength, low diameter and unobtrusive characteristics that Drennan Double Strength has.
Another key component is my lead clip arrangement. When fishing for very big fish on zigs I always use an ESP Ejector Lead Clip with a 4oz lead. The heavy lead helps set the hook and the lead clip then ejects the lead so that landing big carp on zigs becomes a piece of cake.“
