Steve Stalks A Cracker!

Steve Harknett sent us these lovely pictures and a brilliant story of his capture of this stunning linear. Here’s Steve’s account:

“I had this one last Monday, been fishing this water on and off for a while after a lovely old mirror with half its tail missing. On this session I found the carp in question mooching in the shallows, on the front of a fresh wind. I placed a couple of chods in the zone and a bottom bait on the spot where I had seen old Cut Tail.

After about half an hour of being perched up a tree the carp returned including Cut Tail, when I heard the bite I could not work out why the fish didn’t spook! I jumped out of the tree and soon figured out it was the left hand rod, after a short battle my mate Dave slipped the net under – sadly it wasn’t Cut Tail but it was the lakes biggun, weighing in at 38lb 13oz!

The size 4 ESP Stiff Rigger was totally embedded in its bottom lip. Not coming off!

The rest of the rig was made up with 25lb Bristle Filament, original Camo Leadcore and the new Chod Sleeves! Bait was Tails Up Pink Magic”
