After a hard five year campaign in which he has caught virtually all the other big fish in the lake, German angler Mario Winnikes has finally bagged his dream in the shape of Mary, weighing in at 91lb 4oz a new world record weight for a common carp from a highly pressured lake in his home country. An absolutely stunning fish worth every minute of blood, sweat and tears!
Huge congratulations to Mario, here’s his report word for word:
“Yesterday five years of hard fishing came to an end.
On Saturday I drove to the lake for fishing my final night in 2012.
23:30 first fish, mirror of 44lbs
0:30 second fish, common 20lbs
03:15 third fish: MARY, the World record common, 91,4lbs!!!
MARY! The hardest fighting beast I ever hooked, let alone caught! She took me and my tackle to the limits and beyond…
The fish of my lifetime!!!
ESP Leadcore, shrink tube and a size 4 ESP Raptor Long-shanx did a perfect job!
Thank you for your long lasting support.
Cheers, Mario.”
